Wow, I didn't even remember my log in information, but I have been thinking of my long forgotten blog lately. I think that the biggest detriment to the blog has been my involvement with Facebook. I interact with so many more friends and family members there than I could ever gain as followers for my blog. It became a spot for posting quick updates, photos, and news. So much has happened in the time that I have been away. Even despite the quick update May 2011 - over a year ago.
I started my own career counseling business. Hannah found true love, and then fell out of love. Keith is still a workaholic. Our beloved Maisy had 2 strokes and, after going blind, we felt we needed to stop her suffering. Hannah attends a magnet high school in the center of the county for biotechnology and really loves her new school.
More to follow?

I'm still here!
I know a few people have asked if I would ever go back to my blog. I've been spending more time on Facebook over the past year because I was finding that fewer people were writing long posts and weren't taking the time to read long posts as well.
It has been almost a year since my last post. At least it was the start of the 8th grade school year and here we are at the end. I measure time by Hannah's school year still. Her last day will be June 10 and then she will officially be a "high school student". It's so hard to believe.
I'm getting ready to drift off to sleep, but thought I'd drop a quick note here. Hannah is going in to have her wisdom teeth removed tomorrow so it will be a fun weekend.

Haven't given up yet
Although it would seem so, since it has been almost a month and a half since my last entry to this blog. I have been working closer to 30 hours a week now, and still keeping on top of Hannah's activities and schedule from the moment I start heading home. It is an insane life, but I love it. Hannah is having so much fun on the Dance & Drill team at school. What a great group of girls. She took a hiatus from cheerleading at the gym, but returned this evening to pick that back up. Things have been tight for her since dance & drill practice is 3x a week. It keeps her out past 6 pm and it is harder to get homework done. She is doing an impressive job in school though. At the interim, her lowest grade was a 93. The girl has a 104 in math and a 100 in science. She did not get that from me. Those were not my strengths by any stretch of the imagination.
My class at Michaels didn't "make" for September, but I will be putting one on the books for October. I have a day off from the college tomorrow and may go by the store to see about setting that up. These part time jobs... I tell you. 3 of them... it's a bit much.
I am really content with the way things are going in my life though. No complaints.

Lifestyles of the Average and Spoiled :)
Just popping in tonight because I can't fall asleep. Nasty sinus headache. At 9 in the morning, MaidPro is sending over two employees to clean my house! It is in decent shape, but I made the appointment because I knew this week would be a bit crazy coming back from vacation and my mom will arrive on Sunday. I joined the Charlotte Groupon site and a few months ago, they were advertising a deal for a 3 hour cleaing with MaidPro for next to nothing, so I jumped on it and bought 2 (the max allowed) vouchers. I do feel pampered just knowing someone else is going to come in and vacuum my stairs and clean my blinds and yes, they do windows. With work 2x this week and the other running around I've been doing, it seems like I just start to put a dent in the heavier cleaning that I need to do, but by the time I finish with the next thing, the project I completed prior is a wreck again. A little help will be so nice.
Additionally, having someone ELSE dust will be a blessing for my allergies. I have been miserable for the past week.
Hannah has "C" sleeping over tonight. She has had a great first week of dance practices and has also been going to the gym faithfully every night and working on her tumbling skills. She convinced a friend from her birthday party to join the cheer squad and she's excited to have a closer friend from her school on the team with her!
I've gotten things rolling at Michaels and will start my first SDU series there on September 7th. It will run 4 consecutive Tuesdays from 11 - 1. I figured that would give moms enough time to get the kids off to school and get home in time to pick them up or meet their bus without starving them through lunch. Hopefully I will have some takers. I will be doing a 2 hour demo with the Cricut Expressions machine out on the sales floor. That will give me a chance to promote my classes as well. I started working on an advertising display board tonight, but didn't finish yet. Hopefully I will be able to tomorrow evening so I will have it for Sat.
See, it really has been a crazy week. 2 days at the college working, one day at Michaels working, dance and gym practices for Hannah in the morning and evening... Keith was out of town yesterday through the end of his work day today... oh, and did I mention the headache and allergies :) I feel blessed though that I have meaningful work that I enjoy, a husband who spoils me and works hard, and a daughter who is able to participate in so many activities that she loves.
We are getting a downpour of rain and that is NOT helping my allergies.

Home again
we had a remarkable vacation. The shows in Vegas were top notch. We saw Believe with Criss Angel and then O. Both were totally mind blowing. Hannah got a "sign" that was used in one of the illusions at Criss Angel's show and I know she has been guarding it with her life. She was so excited that he talked to her and gave her something from up on stage.
The Grand Canyon started out as a big disappointment. Totally blinded by clouds. Hannah and I climbed down to a ledge at one point and I was shooting up taking photos of Keith. We could barely see him from that angle either. We went on to an IMAX movie in the welcome center and had lunch and I noticed it was clearing up, so we went back and got the views I had hoped for.
Had a lot of fun staying at the "haunted" hotel, although we didn't see anything very scary. Well, we heard something scary, but that was just the karaoke at the bar behind our room.
Have been putting things back in order and prepping for my mom to arrive on Sunday and then my aunt and her friend to come on Thursday for a weekend in Charlotte scrapbooking at CKC. FUN!
Hard to believe school is just a little more than 2 weeks away now. I'm not ready for it to end yet. Hannah has started dance & drill practice as well as her other lessons at the gym. We are getting back to some sort of a routine now. It is probably better that we ease into it so she gets used to waking up earlier and not being able to nap and sleep all day. She has been keeping later and later hours.

Where is the summer going?
I can't believe it has been weeks since my last post. Honestly, there is a whole lot keeping me busy, but not a lot of it is "exciting". I am getting ready to go to sleep as tomorrow we will be embarking on a 5 night trip to Las Vegas. I will be fulfilling a life long wish of seeing the Grand Canyon. 2 days in Vegas, then 2 days driving to the Grand Canyon and stopping along the way in Arizona. I am looking forward to it, but not the 4 hour flight, of course. We got the deal of all deals on the airfare and since Keith usually takes a long weekend each summer for us to do a local roadtrip, it was actually the same cost, if not cheaper, to go to the other side of the country for this opportunity to visit the desert.
Hannah had a week of tumbling camp at her gym, she has been getting together on an almost rotating basis with several friends, sleeping over and having sleepovers. It is what summer is all about. When we get back from our trip, she will begin 3 mornings per week practices for dance & drill and her competition gym will resume its schedule as well.
We've had some down time and watched movies rented from "Red Box" (a new favorite of mine, can't beat the $1 rentals) and I've been reading as always. The book I'm reading right now (Blindness) is a bit heavy, so I am wondering if I will even bother bringing it on the trip. The writing style is interesting, but awkward for me to read since the author doesn't use quotation marks or paragraph breaks that often. My bookmark came out the other day and I couldn't figure out where the heck I left off!
Keith had his annual company picnic last weekend and it was a huge success, although HOT! As is my traditional role, I painted faces and probably did a good 45 by the time I finished. Hannah helped me this year and she did pretty well for herself.
Well, heading out so I can go to bed!

Weird day
I can't put my finger on it, it was just kind of a blecgh day. Got up early and took "B" home after a sleepover here, then off to the dermatologist for Hannah and I. Having my stitches removed was a bigger ordeal than it has been in the past and it required some "digging". Hannah was in tons of pain with the cryotherapy on her warts. We came home and crawled into bed together in my room and watched TV and took a Tylenol PM induced nap.
Before I knew it, it was time to take her out for her retainer appointment. They did the impression and actually made the retainer before we left. It was surprising. The retainer was a lot different than the one I had back in the day... it is actually a clear plastic overlay, like my bleaching tray. You can't even tell when she has it in. She will only have to wear it for the next two days, then it goes to bedtime for the rest of her life!
"C" is sleeping over tonight. Hannah has her dentist appointment tomorrow and I have work. Keith and I are going to tag team her dentist appointment. I will stay until he can take over and get her back home for me.

Feeling Blessed
for no particular reason, it just seems that there is a certain peace in my life lately and I am so grateful for that. Happy 4th of July!
I am looking out my big bedroom windows enjoying the fireworks from the comfort of my bed. The cats don't seem particular keen on the explosions, but it will likely begin to subside in another half hour or so.
Hannah got her braces off this past Thursday! I did a before and after photo at the orthodontist on my phone and have to get the photo off of the card. There is still a bit of cement that needs to be cleaned up, but it just so happens that she has her 6th month cleaning on Wednesday and they will polish them up beau-tee-full!
After finishing up with the appointment, Hannah and I went to visit Heather for 2 days and dropped off Hannah's dresser and my old bed headboard and footboard for her. I loved my old bed, but we moved up to a king size bed and that was that. I had kept the bed because I couldn't bear to part with it, but when I showed Heather the dresser, I decided to give her the bed as well. I knew she would enjoy it and appreciate it. Since I had to bring the dresser to her in Keith's truck, it was nothing to add the bed to the load. We used the headboard on her bed and the footboard as a headboard on her guest bed since neither bed had the bottom bracket attachments for a footboard already. It worked out great.
We had a really nice visit with Heather though. Hannah enjoyed playing with Copper, Heather's dog, and Blue, Heather's mom's dog and Roxie, Heather's bunny. On Friday in the early afternoon, Hannah and I took a trip to Archiver's since it is only about 30 minutes from her house. Heather had to work from home and it gave her a bit of time with us out of her hair. By the time we finished and ate lunch, it was just about quitting time for Heather. We went to see Eclipse and it was "eh".
I'm going to try my luck with teaching SDU again. I was assigned to two Michaels for their start up of the program nationally. Since I was certified to teach a year ago to roll out the same program at AC Moore, but never got that off the ground, I have been hoping for a chance to share my hobby with others. Have my fingers crossed that this will go better. The store manager was excited to meet me and is happy to have the program, so that was a good sign at least.
It seems like the fireworks are starting to dwindle. I've been having some cold type symptoms and am ready to call it a night.

Keeping Up
Just a quick note here before falling asleep. It has been a bad night for my allergies and I'm ready to turn in.
Hannah and I had a wonderful time visiting Florida last week. She had a lot of fun at VBS with my mom and her friend Mary. I managed to get in some time with my friends and even had some down time, which was nice. The 4 days went by much too quickly and the drive coming home took longer than it should have, but overall, it was a great trip.
Hannah has enjoyed the first two days of dance & drill team camp. She said that all of the girls are very nice and friendly, and that even though everyone has their own little "groups", everyone still talks to everyone else and there aren't the divisions she felt in football cheer. I was happy to hear that.
I had an uneventful few hours at work. One appointment after being out for over two weeks! I have gotten more requests since leaving the office today, but who knows how that will work out for me. I am happy to try to schedule one day at a time, in advance, instead of running around like I did in the previous summers, trying to fit in a person a day.
Other than that, I've been doing some organization projects in the scrapbook room and have been pasting down all of the odds and ends in my memorabilia stash. Stray tickets, programs and papers that were getting shuffled from one place to the next have been put down on 12x12 paper and awaiting either further embellishment or simply a spot in one of the scrapbooks. I have avoided the scrapbook room because the clutter overwhelmed me, so I am taking care of that. It was a blessing to finally have a room all for myself and my things, so it was a shame to feel frustration when I walked in there. I can see things transforming, 15 minutes at a time.

Let Summer Vacation Begin!!!
Hannah finished with an A/B honor roll average in all of her classes for the year as well as for the grading period. She scored in the top percentile on the end of grade exams for the state as well. So, good end to the school year! I think she had a pretty great time at school this year. She is definitely her own person and knows what she is about.
Since our house is the typical hang out and she has friends spending the night more often, we decided to "bite the bullet", so to speak, and get her the loft bed that we have been eyeing at Ikea for almost a year now. The difference it has made in her floor space has been so well worth it and the extra drawer space she has has really helped her with her organizing, keeping clutter to a minimum, and keeping her room clean. We put it all together last weekend and she has proven that she can maintain things much better now.
I finished up work, but now am getting stray emails requesting appointments. I've pretty well put them all on hold until the end of the month when Hannah goes to dance camp. She and I will be going to Florida next week for VBS at my mom's church and I will catch up with friends. This week we are just going to take it easy and enjoy the ability to not have any demands on our time.
Heather came for the weekend and we went to see Cavo, Lifehouse, and Daughtry on Friday. What an awesome concert. We had a lot of fun together as well, just being together.
Yesterday in the later afternoon, Keith, Hannah and I went to see Karate Kid. It is so hard to believe it has been 26 years since the original came out and that I was just 14 then. It was almost surreal watching the remake with my 13 year old. I was telling her funny stories about going to see the first with my grandmother and aunt and how my grandmother was yelling at the screen during the final fight scene, shouting advice to Ralph Macchio.
Keith and I are in the process of re-financing our house. We purchased the home almost 5 years ago (!!!!) (It's so hard to believe) with intentions of moving back to Florida after Keith re-established himself with the company here. Now that we have settled in, and she Hannah will be entering high school in just another year, we have decided to stay if we are able. Since we figured the move here was just a blip on the radar, we financed with a 5 year adjustable option. No point in paying extra interest if we weren't going to stick around. With the refinance we snagged a lower fixed interest rate and will come out on top. If Keith is transferred, we will deal with that when the time comes, but for now we are calling this home.

Happy Hump Day
or at least it will be in another half hour+. I had today off, it was pretty much my "official" start to summer hours. I have an appointment to go in for tomorrow and Thursday, but just for a little while. Nothing like I've been doing.
Hannah and a friend made a video tonight for extra credit for math class. It was really strange and funny. I hope to be able to post it later on so you can see my wacky daughter in action.
Counting down now, just one more week and a day of school remaining for Hannah. I believe she will finish with a strong report card.
Threw my back out yesterday moving a planter. I pushed it out from under the front porch so it could be rained on, moving it back I must have twisted wrong and POP! I was down for the count for the rest of the day and the beginning of this morning. After laying here watching one and a half bad Lifetime movies, I decided I needed to try to get up, showered and out of the house before I went nuts. I ended up going to the mall because I knew I could get a short massage there without an appointment and without it costing much. That seemed to help A LOT. I am still stiff, but world's better than yesterday.
We did get quite a bit of rain all day yesterday and then this morning. It sounds like it's storming again. Rumbling, distant thunder.

Freedom isn't free
Thinking of those who have sacrificed and paid the ultimate price for our freedom this weekend.
It has been hard to post lately, just too nutty between work, running Hannah around, keeping up with the housework and errands... Life is good and today I had my first true day off in a long time. No work, no appointments, no place I had to be. It was great. I was actually giddy because I finally had a day to do whatever! I ended up laying around in bed too long watching HGTV with the pets, then headed out for lunch and to hit some thrift stores to see if I could score anything funky to decorate the back patio. Nope. But it was still fun hunting around. I went to the Habitat Re-Store, Salvation Army and two consignment stores before coming home to meet Hannah.
Next week, I will begin just working for community appointments. That should give me a quiet summer until Hannah starts back to school. She still has about a week and a half before finishing up.
Speaking of Hannah, she did great on her interim reports and scored in the top 25% of the state on all of her EOG (end of grade) exams. A "4" is the highest that can be scored on the tests (meaning highest of the 4 quartiles). She got her Dance & Drill team "spirit wear" yesterday and was happy to wear her new t-shirt and sweatshirt today.
It has been stiflingly hot. In the low 90s. The pool opened last weekend, so we managed to go once this week.
Last weekend, we went to see Heather at her parents' beach house on Sunset Beach (NC). I wish we had more time because we didn't arrive until almost 9 (since we were waiting for Hannah to get out of school) and then we had to leave after lunch on Sunday to get back. Saturday she had a cheer competition in Myrtle Beach (SC) which is about an hour from Heather's parents, so we did that in the morning, went to lunch, then Keith and Hannah had some beach time until it got dark. After basketball cheer season ended at school, Hannah began practicing and participating with both of the competition teams at the gym. The teams took 1st and 3rd in their divisions. The gym will wrap up with the end of the year "show" the day after Father's Day.
Along with Hannah's other activities, she has put in her month's notice for horseback riding. She hasn't wanted to go as often and I am not going to push her. I really feel like the experience has had a positive impact on her and hope that she may pick it back up again. I realize that she has had more going on and is involved in more activities than most kids, so I understand that she has probably just gotten tired of being overbooked. It will work out fine since the summer isn't as structured for us and she would probably be missing her lessons more often than not.
Dance & Drill will require 3 days of practice and then performances at Saturday home games, so she is going to be taking on more with that role, plus she is still planning on cheering at the gym. That is probably more than enough if she doesn't take on anything additional. She still loves the Chun Kuk Do and "cheer funk" dance class she is taking at the gym, but will have to put those activities on hold, most likely, during dance season at school.
Lots of stuff about Hannah lately. Trying to think if I have anything exciting to talk about in regards to myself... Nope, can't really think of anything. I think I live vicariously through my daughter and that is enough for me lately.
I sat down and scrapbooked quite a bit tonight. I think I was able to sit and enjoy myself since I didn't have a million other things I had to do earlier like I have most days lately. I just grabbed an envelope of photos without even looking at the pictures, and then set about scrapping them! It was fun because the envelope ended up containing pictures from when Elissa came to visit in 2008 and there were adorable pictures of our girls together getting makeovers and going shopping. I also had photos in there of Heather and I when we went to the beach last year! My plan is to continue to do as much as I can over the summer so I don't have all of the stacks.
I don't feel "guilty" like they say, for having stacks of photos waiting for a home. I really use my scrapbooks as my family photo albums and want to put all of the photos I have on paper, so I don't feel like I need to limit myself to one picture for each event. It takes me longer this way and it may not always be as clean and uncluttered as a result, but I like having the many pictures chronicled and put away. I can remember a time, not too long ago, when I was actually just waiting for the next batch of photos to come back from the store so I could scrapbook because I was completely up to date on my projects.
I've fallen behind since moving here. It seems like with a house that is twice the size of my old house and a daughter that is now 5 years older that it takes me 10 times longer to do all of my domestic junk. I do flutter with the FLY lady, so I have a system that works for me, but geez.
Well, I am going to head off to bed. I am up late since I was lazy all morning. I hope everyone enjoys their holiday weekend and doesn't forget why we have Monday off.
I realize that she has had more going on and is involved in more activities than most kids, so I understand that she has probably just gotten tired of being overbooked. and in further news...
... I'm taking a breather in between a house clean up and dinner cooking. I am just waiting for the oven to beep and then it will be chicken cordon bleu time. Around that same time, Keith should be walking in the door. Laundry load #2 is in the wash and all is well here.
It has just been BUSY for me, in general, lately. Putting in close to 30 hours a week and still shuttling Hannah around for her stuff, working a lot of evenings. It's fine though, I just miss having some down time. That will come soon enough though.
We went to Discovery Place on Sunday and brought along a new friend of Hannah's. It was a nice outing and a chance to do something a bit different. I just wanted to get out of the house but didn't want to end up at the movies or shopping, which is what we typically default to on a weekend where there's not much happening.
Keith and I cleaned out the garage on Saturday, which was awesome! The veteran's group came by for a pick up on Monday so I was able to set aside a few extras for them.
The bonus is that Keith did get the hot tub working! I've been out to it twice and it was blissful. Better than new! A few of the little bubbler jets weren't blowing, but we think it may be a kink in the line. It's not a big deal. Just kind of one of those things where you wonder what happened.
There's the stove! Hope to get some photos off my camera later and on here!

Dreary Tuesday
It's another anti-breathing day here. Overcast and looks like rain, that makes me wheezy. Yesterday I could breathe, but I had a migraine when I woke up. The doctor told me to try Zyrtec? so I need to go buy that. I have been taking stuff at night when I go to bed, but that doesn't help me when I need to be up and moving around.
I stayed home yesterday with the headache and managed to sleep it off. I was up and about around noon and went to lunch and did some shopping. Had a fun afternoon out, exploring a new area I hadn't been to before. Got done in time to make my way to Hannah's school for dance uniform fittings. Lots of fun, girls seem down to earth and it was so much less chaotic fitting 16 girls for dance rather than 60 girls for cheer.
Hannah had a good report card. Her lowest grades were two 83's (which is a C here, but I'm still proud of her, missed the B by 2 points). I think she will finish the year out fairly strong. EOGs are coming up and that is stressful, but there is little that can be done to prepare her any further for it than she already has been. I know the whole school goes into overdrive at state testing time.
Keith has been working to retro-fit the hot tub. Since we had it crated up and ready for the company to pick back up several months ago, and they never did, we figure we may as well put a bit of money into fixing it and making it safe and getting some use out of it. Propped up on its side and wrapped in cardboard with a big blue tarp over it, it's a big eyesore. Rumor is that the company that sold it to us on the internet has gone bankrupt because so many credit card charges have been reversed (and rumor has it too that the owner has reopened under his mother's name as a "new" business). They were so lax in helping us resolve our problems, I can't imagine they will ever come get it. I'm just sick of it blocking the pretty view of my springtime backyard. So, it's not the quality Keith was expecting when he purchased it for me. He got the money back he spent for it, so all that has been put into fixing it is what it is costing to keep it. Not a big deal in the scheme of things.
Well, time to get off to work. It's going to be a busy rest of the week. Kind of glad I took yesterday to have some down time.

HANNAH MADE THE DANCE & DRILL TEAM!
We just found out about an hour and a half ago and she is SOOOO excited. It was kind of funny because just the other day, when I was kind of feeling sorry for her and down in the dumps, I felt peace all of a sudden and remembered the saying, "When God closes a door, He opens another" or "He opens a window". So, I started thinking, "well God, is this what You had planned for her all along?" I knew she would be blessed, but I wasn't sure what He was going to reveal. As I was saying, she wanted to try out for dance all along because she didn't quite fit in with the cheer girls (for the most part), so maybe this will be a better fit? And maybe it won't. We will just need to see. I am just glad that she will be able to get back out on the football field and basketball court with a set of pom poms again.
I go for my annual physical in the morning, so I have about 20 minutes to finish this diet Pepsi before I'm supposed to, technically, be fasting. I have been dealing with a nasty headache off and on since leaving the office at 3 this afternoon, but that didn't keep me from working another 3 hours after I picked Hannah up from dance tryouts. She skipped her karate, stunt, and dance rehearsal at the gym this afternoon because she was completely worn out and dealing with a headache of her own.
Not looking forward to the doctor's appointment, but will be glad to have it behind me. I haven't been as strict with my eating habits as I should have been over the past several months and that is probably going to show up in my blood work. It will also be there to laugh at me when I step on the scale. Sigh.
So much for having a free summer. Hannah will now have dance camp the last few days in June, but then won't have to go to practices for dance drill until after the first of August, so it's a bit less than cheer would have been over the summer. 3 days a week instead of 2 after school though, which could be a bit hairy.
I think it's a bit ironic that she made the dance team after getting booted from cheerleading for having low dance scores at the try outs. Go figure. I still believe it's more politics than anything else, but I will just leave well enough alone. Hannah's happy and that is all that matters.
Have a warm little kitty on my elbow and need to head off to see if I can get rid of the headache.

the big 4-oh!
So, it came and went, my 40th birthday. We went out to dinner at the Melting Pot last Sunday and that was nice. I told Keith he didn't need to buy me a present (he asked what I wanted earlier on) because I purchased frames for my diplomas finally and hung them up at work, and also, I treated myself to some tooth whitening/bleaching trays, when I went to the dentist. I also told him not to send me flowers, they are too expensive and I would rather have flowers in the yard. We went and picked out some and planted them. I have about a dozen gerber daisy plants around my crepe myrtle tree now, in pinks, yellow, and orange. He and Hannah still got me lovely cards though, and he surprised me with a small flower delivery at work. Lavender tulips and lilies.
My mom, sister, and friend Heather, all sent me a bead for my special bracelet :) It really was a nice day.
Hannah had football cheer tryouts this past week and we were somewhat surprised (and not surprised) that she did not make the squad. Out of 18 girls, only one opted not to try out. Hannah is the only one from last year that tried out and didn't get a spot again. At the end of last season, we were asked to fill out an evaluation and told to be honest. I mentioned how hurt Hannah felt by the way the girls would treat her and that they were actually pretty mean to her. Hannah didn't even really want to try out, she wanted to try out for the dance/drill team, but I told her it would be better to stick with what she was doing already. Well, she has gotten her wish. She is going to try out for the dance/drill team Mon - Wed this coming week. I don't know if she has a shot at it, she doesn't have much of a dance background outside of cheer, so she isn't familiar with lots of turns, etc. I'm glad that she is taking the news of not making cheer in stride. She is still planning on cheering at the gym next year, so regardless of whether or not she makes the dance team at school, she will remain very busy with her other activities.
I'm still working triple the hours that I used to. All of that will stop and slow down again on June 1st. After that, I am pretty much on vacation until Hannah returns to school in late August. I will have to keep up with community appointments, but will probably not go to the office in Charlotte very often over the summer. I may try to work one day per week on community stuff.
Additionally, Hannah not making cheer has freed up our summer. If she doesn't make dance either, we will be spending a good solid week in Florida with family and friends there as soon as school lets out. Hannah wants to go to the VBS at my mom's church again this year with our old neighbor friends.
I am anxious for the school year to be over though. The last grading period is always the hardest. Knowing that those state standardized tests are coming up, that they bear weight as to whether or not Hannah can be promoted to the next grade, etc. It's just a lot. Plus, by this time of the year, we are all ready for a break.
Have been to several movies since my post on the 22nd. Keith and I went to see Date Night, which I thought was really fun, and Death at a Funeral, which was tasteless, but had us laughing a lot. We took Hannah to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid last Sunday. She read the book and really wanted to see it. I thought it was cute, Hannah said they left out a lot. Welcome to my world :) Lastly, we rented Have You Heard About the Morgans? Eh. I think it was hard to watch that one on the heels of Date Night. Somewhat similar scenarios, but not as fun. Tonight we watched The Men Who Stare at Goats. Not a favorite. It had some moments, but I thought that it was just okay.
Well, need to get to bed. Haven't been sleeping well and tomorrow I am taking Hannah to horseback riding lessons.

Just a quickie post before bed
I just wanted to update to let everyone know I'm on the mend. Today I felt better for the first time since last Sunday when we were heading home from Jamaica. It started as a sinus infection and just kind of "traveled" around, but the Z-pack did the trick in the end.
Today were cheerleading sign ups for tryouts next week at Hannah's school. Lots of girls. Lots of new girls competing for those same 18 spots.
I get to go renew my driver's license tomorrow. It expires on my birthday. I was telling Keith, wow, age 10 I spent living in New York, age 20 I spent living in Florida, age 30 I spent living in Georgia and now I will see 40 here in North Carolina. It's funny how that worked out that way.
We are already trying to coordinate the activities and calendar for the summer months. It's hard to believe that spring is just starting and already my entire summer vacation with Hannah seems to be spoken for. How does that happen?
Well, work in the morning, so I need to sleep. Blessings all!

Home From Jamaica!
I've actually been back for 3 days now, but I've been so sick that I couldn't put together the words to post anything here. Went to the doctor on Monday and she said I had a sinus infection, and was starting a double ear infection, at the very least. I still managed to get Hannah off to cheer practice and then had to run to WalMart to get a fan for Keith (his broke in transport). Yesterday, I didn't even get out of bed though. Today I plan to return to reality and will try to finish up the unpacking later in the day. Back to work tomorrow.
We had a really nice vacation, but we felt it wasn't worth the extra money for the "all-inclusive" as we enjoyed the outings we took more than anything we did at the resort. The food was just so-so and Keith and I don't drink enough to make it worthwhile to have the alcohol included as well. Hannah enjoyed the waterslides and pool, but the beach was kind of pitiful. Three days we were there, it was inundated with algae and seaweed to the point that the water was actually thick. It smelled like decaying fish. We did sign up for snorkeling excursions just a little bit out from the hotel by glass bottom boat to a reef and were excited to see a lion fish, puffer fish, and a moray eel. We saw more varieties of colorful tropical fish than the best saltwater aquariums around as well.
Hannah's favorite trip was to Dolphin Cove where she got to swim with the dolphins and got to ride on them. They pushed her up out of the water on their noses, it was quite a picture.
We climbed Dunn's River Falls, which was quite an experience. I thought it was fun, but Hannah was completely stressed out that Keith or I were going to hurt ourselves through the whole thing.
After climbing the falls, we had our taxi driver take us to a public beach that we had passed which was a lot nicer and cleaner than the one at our resort.
It was a very relaxing trip though and the staff at the resort were really great. I was a little nervous when we got there and on the way to our room, we got stuck in the elevator with the bellhop and another family between floors. We had to climb out of the elevator and I cut up my leg. It was midnight and had been a long day, so I didn't take that as a good sign. Other than that though, things were okay. Hannah danced in the resort's talent show one night and another night, she and Keith won the "game show" they did about how well the parents knew their children. Keith got 7 out of 10 right, when the next highest was a three way tie for 5 out of 10.
