From the Principal

So, I was SUPER excited to see Hannah when she got off the bus yesterday. I figured she would just be bursting to tell me her good news... unless they hadn't told her yet. I went out to meet her bus and tried to get her to tell me and not ruin her surprise. Finally, I came right out with it, "Did you know you are Student of the Week?!?!?" and she replies, "Oh yeah, that was last week." The child knew about this for a whole week and didn't tell us. I asked her what it meant, did anyone say anything to her, etc. and she told me that everyone told her congratulations and that was it. She wasn't the least bit peaked by this news. I asked her why she was chosen and she just said, "everyone gets it sooner or later, they pick two every week." I was explaining to her that even if school ran all 52 weeks of the year, it isn't something that every student would "get", she must have done something special. Keith was just as floored as I was that she wasn't giddy about it, because we were, and we had no clue what it was about. I wrote the principal an email and he responded this morning:

Each grade level chooses two students per week to recognize as great all around students. Students are recognized as being respectful, honest, hard working and quality classmates. It is a great recognition, especially with 500 six grade students. You should be very proud of your daughter.

Students of the Week (changed to keep out the name of the school) are invited to a pizza party at the end of the six week period with the counselors and administrators where we thank them for their efforts.

Go Hannah!!! Whoo hoo!!!

The walk is today. I was up late last night cleaning baseboards. We're all still being lazy in bed. Pretty soon Heather should be starting her drive down, but it will take her a bit.
