Happy Saturday!

We're going to the zoo with my former college roomie, Heather, tomorrow. Last night I was on the phone with her until late-thirty and told her it was time for me to get into bed, I was tired. About half an hour later, Keith got a call that the "plant" was on fire! Sheesh. He didn't tell me, I just got that from what I was hearing on his end of the phone conversation with the alarm company. I don't know what time it was, but he called to tell me everything was okay and he was on the way home. Next thing I knew, I rolled over and he was asleep next to Hannah and I in bed. Needless to say, everyone else is going to be sleeping in today.

Since I got up early and want to keep in the habit, since my routine for work is about to be revived, I got up, started some coffee and cleaned out my pantry closet. This was a HUGE ordeal because I'm a "saver", but at this point we have lived in NC almost 3 years and I still had some canned goods from Publix.

We got Hannah registered for all of her activities at the place she did cheer/tumbling last school year. I am surprised she has decided to do it again and then some. She is going to be taking karate there, which will be new. It works out to a half hour committment per week, right before the hour long stunt practice starts for cheer. Last "year" she had trouble getting to stunt practice because of horseback riding, but we're hoping to swap everything around now so she won't have to be in two places in the same day. Without going to TKD on Tuesdays, we are hoping her instructor can get her in late that day for horseback riding. Her slot right now is at 4 and she won't even be getting out of school until about that time this year, nevermind the bus trip home. It's going to be a busy year for her though, some activity every day. I told her that we will allow it, but if she starts getting overwhelmed, we will start eliminating things.

I think she came to the realization that when she's home, it doesn't mean there will automatically be play dates and friends around. She was against going to any summer activities and initially said she was going to drop out of everything after school because she just wanted to play. She has spent many of those low key days during the summer at home alone because everyone else's parents have to work so the kids are in programs and with sitters. It's not for lack of trying either. When I was away with Sharlene, I told Keith to try to work out something for her on Monday. They made phone calls all weekend and couldn't get in touch with anyone.

I've been having a fit trying to refill my hermafix tab dispenser. Other than that, I have actually spent some time scrapbooking and winnowing out the excess on my flat surfaces in the scrapbook room. I have a notion to move either the computer or the craft room to the loft. That is a HUGE undertaking, so I don't know if I will actually do it, but here's my reasoning. Keith is using the computer more than ever because of his online classes. The loft is just a completely wasted space. If we separated the two out, it would make that lonely space upstairs get some use. I was also thinking that if I moved my scrap stuff up there, this room would be able to be an actual "office" (it was intended for a formal living room) and would be a clean, clutter free area when people first walk in the door instead of my craft disaster zone. I believe the loft is a little bigger too... When we moved, I envisioned the loft as being Hannah's play room, but she never really did anything there. Now it holds two old computers, an antique dresser and the eliptical machine Keith bought but never used. It just looks pitiful.

I want to paint a room orange! I have had that thought in my head for a while. I've never been a fan, but it seems like a happy color. Gerber daisy orange... I was thinking I would just go ahead and paint the laundry room that color since it's just the cats and I that spend time in there, but then I thought, 'it's such a small space, that intense color may make me have a seizure or something', so, I will just continue to be intrigued by the notion without acting on it.

Hannah got to talk to her cruise crush yesterday on the phone. They started out chatting online and then moved on to the phone conversation. The two of them are just cute. If it was anything other than a 700 mile distance relationship, I'd be REALLLLY worried about it. Honestly though, it's pretty innocent. He was telling Hannah about the new video game club he joined and she was telling him how excited she is to be getting a locker.

Well, that's about all of my rambling for this morning. I'm going to work on this hermafix thing some more. I had it down to a science, I'm not sure how I'm screwing it up now.

Wow, so much going on in your life. I have to get back to that getting up early routine - starting in two weeks! Glad to hear your scrapping again too!
