We went to the mall tonight and were going to see if there was a new dress for her "moving up" ceremony. She didn't need a new dress, but the idea of shopping for a dress seemed like a fun mother-daughter activity. I was amazed at the number of dresses that looked like something an adult woman would wear. They were in a little girl's size 7, but were easily cocktail dresses with bling, plunging necklines, backless... In a size 7, there's no mistaking the audience for these dresses. Hannah is a 7 or an 8 depending on the cut, and she is small for her age. Some of them were just downright trashy looking. I told Hannah those dresses were not meant for little girls. She argued that they were her size. I had to have the conversation of "just because something is in your size doesn't mean you should wear it" talk. I am amazed at what they make for plus sized women...
I'm going to post two examples from Dillard's but these were not nearly as dramatic as some of the ones she tried on...

I know what you mean about some of these clothes. Not that Chelsea ever would wear them, but I've always warned her when shopping with her friends that if I didn't approve it would go RIGHT back! Why would you want them so young dressing like that??? Cute cut by the way!
