Curriculum Night

...was tonight. It was another long day. I went in to work, had an appointment there, kept busy until I headed to Hannah's school to help with the book coding project. I brought Hannah a change of clothes for gymnastics when I left the house this morning. Signed her out of art at 3:15, stayed at the school until 4 working on the books, then took her to gymnastics. Sat and waited for her there for an hour, reading a book that I have to read for work, went to Walmart to have my tire fixed (it was flat, turns out it had a nail in it), grabbed dinner at Firehouse subs and made it back to school for the curriculum night. Whew. We got home after 8:30.

I got ready for bed and watched Survivor: China with Keith on TiVo. That's the way to go, no commercials. I haven't watched the last few seasons, but I HAD to watch this one because I need to cheer on Leslie. She is the "later" morning (translated as first thing in the morning in my world) radio show host for New Life 91.9, here in the Charlotte area, the Christian radio station I have been listening to since we moved here. Her daughter is updating her blog. I thought she handled things very tactfully, although I am sure others are just psshawing at her.

Anyway, Hannah's teacher said that Hannah "tries hard". That is something in and of itself. She does seem to be trying. She still seems to slack off or get spacey, but I do believe that she is putting out some effort, even if it's just the effort to try to stay on top of things. I will just continue to try to help her as much as I can.

She had a nice time at gymnastics. I could have done without it today, honestly, with all of the other running around, but she enjoyed it. Out of all of her activities, it's the only one that I have to drop her off and hang out for an hour. Horseback riding and rock climbing are a little easier because of the greater window of time. I can actually go home or find something to do. Hopefully she will surpass this level of gymnastics soon so Keith and I can get back to a later gymnastics schedule that allows us to grab dinner alone once a week. That was really nice last school year.

I was tallying up my hours today for my internship and I am already past 100 hours. It's hard to believe, but I will actually finish up EARLIER than expected. I will be able to start getting paid for my time again a few days before the semester officially ends. It's cutting it close, but what a difference. It really made me grateful that I had the opportunity to just buckle down and do it now, and do it quickly, instead of dragging it out through 2008. I enjoy the time I spend there, I think if I continued in my previous job, I would have been frustrated with the tasks at hand and the lack of progress on my own educational goals. I just feel blessed, and that's a nice place to be.
