The Party's Over

Well, Spring Break is officially in its last hours. Keith headed out around 7:30 this morning to go to Tampa and Hannah and I had a peaceful morning at home. After lunch, I told her that I was going to clean the upstairs and she could head off once her room was clean. It was a beautiful afternoon so I told her we would go for a nature walk or a trip to the park when I was finished. Lo and behold, around the time I was finishing up with the dreaded laundry, it started to rain and got very windy. Hannah had to come home to make a few adjustments to her clean room (I found a stash where she was hiding things instead of putting them away). By the time she finished that up, the weather was gorgeous again, the sun shining high overhead, actually HOT outside. She scurried off to her friend's house and I finished what I needed to. I called her home on the 2 way radio to let her know we could head out the temperature dropped drastically, the wind picked up again and the rain started. All I can say is that it was a lesson. I have tried so hard to be a better housewife than comes naturally to me. I'm not organized, I'm not task oriented, I get off track very easily (just like Hannah I would rather stash stuff to get it out of sight because the thought of organizing it is overwhelming to me). When I set my mind to getting the mess cleaned up, I missed out on the beautiful weather and the opportunity to take Hannah out and go for a walk or push her on a swing. God is the God of second chances, when the rain lifted the first time, I should have clued in. I didn't. How many things could I miss out on in life if I was focused so much on the task at hand instead of going with my instinct to enjoy the moment for all it is worth? The floor will need to be vacuumed again. While I don't want to live in a sty, would it have really been so horrible if I put it off another day?

Hannah and I went to Fuddruckers and shared a cheeseburger and an ice cream sundae. It was a lot of fun. The temp got down to 48 degrees and rainy / windy.

I'm about to put the sheets back on my bed. I am trying to get Hannah to bed around 9 because she won't want to get up in the morning for school. I know I'm already dreading waking up to put her on the bus. Keith really has me spoiled. She is excited about wearing her new clothes to school tomorrow though.

Keith was going to go visit his mom today. He hasn't visited since we moved here a year and a half ago, so I was glad he took my advice and flew down a day early to see her.

Congrats to my friend, Hilda, who is going to be a grandmother!!! Her daughter Rachel is due in September. I can't wait to find out if it's going to be a boy or a girl so I can go shopping for small clothes!

Well, I need to get going here if I plan on having her to bed soon. I need to get her to take a shower and wash her hair too.
