Nothing new

Hello there, nothing happening tonight with me. Hannah had some issue with turning in a project for school and Keith is sorting that out with her. The rule is if she "forgets" stuff she gets a warning and then the next time in the equivalent of a week that she forgets, she will have to miss out on a priviledge for 3 weeks. Since this project comprised much of her social studies grade for the quarter, the unfortunate consequence is that she will be missing out on gymnastic lessons for the next three weeks unless she can manage to turn it in before the lesson on Thursday. Despite it being something Hannah should have taken care of, I've been kind of amazed at the weight single assignments and projects have had on her science or social studies grades. Because the emphasis is on the three R's, it doesn't seem uncommon to just have one project for the entire 8 weeks that results in a grade for that subject. I think I hate Hannah's school work more than I hate my own.

Speaking of my own, I added the finishing touches to my project for class tomorrow night tonight. I need to prepare an outline for my little workshops at two middle schools tomorrow before I go to bed. I already know what I'm going to do and say, I just probably need a guide so I use my 45 minutes wisely. I think the kids will have fun. Two groups of 25 6th graders. I'm talking to them about how to map out a career, how that effects choices of college majors, etc. I'm going to keep it very light and do some fun activities.

In more encouraging news, she was told that she could test on Saturday for her deputy black belt. Unfortunately, we are leaving for Atlanta on Friday after school, so I'm not sure what will happen there. She may have to wait until next month. I'm very excited about getting together with my sister for the weekend.
