Bye Sharlene

Well, Sharlene left just a bit ago, heading back to Lakeland. I roused Hannah to say goodbye. I walked her out to her car and that was it. Good byes are always hard for me, even if it's just a week before I go to Florida to see her. I just always feel awkward: If I cry, is that too much? If I don't cry and I just cold?

We went to a historic plantation yesterday, the Latta Plantation. As Keith put it when I told him about it last night, "there wasn't a Latta to it". I'm glad we went though. It was still something to go see. The nature preserve seemed to be a fun place to spend the day, if we were more outdoor-sy type people. There were just nature trails to walk, or horseback ride. We got to visit the old plantation house, it wasn't anything more than a house. Downstairs was a dining area/parlor and a formal parlor. Upstairs were two bedrooms. It wasn't in tip top condition where one would walk through and say "oooh, ahhh". The out buildings were mostly newer and built to represent what may have been, not what was because there wasn't a real record of what was there in the 1800s.

Dinner was at the Melting Pot. I think Hannah out ate Sharlene and I.

It was a nice day out, overall, and I could see us going back to the Latta Plantation for an afternoon some other day. There are other ones that we will probably check out too. I think the plantation may have been better on a weekend. The literature made it out to be more of a "living" historic plantation with people in period clothing, etc. There was hardly anyone there.

I got an e-mail from the head of the art department. She's going to have art lessons for kids next week Mon- Thurs and is limiting it to 8, so I am going to enroll Hannah. I'm trying to find out what Hannah would miss if she didn't attend on Thurs. since we were going to head to FL on Wed. I may just postpone our trip until she finishes at noon on Thurs. Katie has company coming, so she's not going to be able to visit with us on our way down. I don't have anything planned until the weekend, so I figure, why have Hannah miss out on something she would really get in to for the sake of one day. With me having classes on Tuesday, it just throws us off because we are doing stuff for the end of this week, or the beginning of that week. A whole week to devote to summer fun is just hard to come by, and it seems like the summer is getting away from us.

So, today I'm going to do laundry and homework. If I was really ambitious, I would clean the floors, but I don't think it will come to that.

Please note the prayer request below and continue to pray for Kyle, his wife Anna, and his family.
