not listening-- la la la la la. Hee hee, that's what I feel like doing, just going off someplace quiet with a book. Someplace with a hammock and a frozen drink. Ahhhh....
It was a dull day at work today. My computer basically wasn't working, so I called it quits early and went to lunch before heading home. Hannah is staying after school for an end of the year celebration for the dance/jump club. I will have to get her in about a half hour. I figured I'd just be mellow at home because I have my first evening class in SC tonight. I pick up Hannah at 3:15 and then will be leaving around 4 to head that way, so this is the only down time I will have for the day. It doesn't help that I am feeling tired -- and I don't know why.
Tomorrow is my last day of work! Whoo hoo! I am going to be going in for a bit on Thurs. to see the new director, but I won't be paid again until August. Hannah may be doing some stuff up at the 4-H facility near the university, so I may stop by here and there, but I'm not knocking myself out.
So, I've gotten call backs for 3 jobs in the past week. Two at UNCC, both part time, and one at York Technical College in SC. They are looking for adjunct instructors for their workforce development portion of Continuing Ed. I would just absolutely LOVE that for the summer, and even into the fall if I can swing it with everything else going on. Just a class here or there is all I need to really keep me motivated. I'm not much of a desk work kind of person. I love being around people and helping people. In my most dignified, kind way, I turned down interviews for the part time jobs at UNCC, one in the career office, one in HR doing stuff with employee relations. Either would have been awesome, neither paid well enough to knock my present job out of contention with the flexibility for going to school at night, and the full time pay despite that. These are all jobs I applied for back in January, if you can believe that. Nothing like taking your time, huh?
The weather here is just super delish, as my pal Valerie would say. We had high 80's over the weekend. The neighborhood pool opened on Friday. On Sat. Hannah went to a lake beach with "A" for her 7th birthday. It was just the two of them, "A"'s mom and two other grown ups. When she got back, we hit the pool and met up with "L" and his mom. We were invited over there for dinner and trudged back home at 10 pm. Sunday, was a whole day of pool. Monday we went to "M"'s house for a cook out with about 10 other neighbors. Lots of fun. So, despite the still rather cool neighbors immediately next door to us, we are finding other friendly folk to befriend us around the area. We still miss our old neighbors in FL, but this isn't bad. Hannah is meeting a lot of other children at the pool now that it's open.
That was our full weekend.
I went to the GYN on Friday and thought she was great! That's kind of an odd statement for me, but really, she was great, and the appointment was fast, so it was just GOOD. I may be afraid of the dentist and therefore don't keep up with my appointments like I should, but I manage to do my gyn appointments every year. I know better. Wow, imagine I could find a dentist I like? Hmm... maybe this summer.
