Good and faithful servant

Well done.

This evening we said good bye to a very special friend. A friend who entered our lives the week after Keith and I exchanged wedding vows, drove the youth group to concerts and other events, who drove Hannah home from the hospital, saw a trek from Atlanta to Lakeland every other weekend for two years, went with me at a moment's notice when my grandmother passed away on Long Island, and most recently endured the ravages of a dog with an ice cream sandwich wrapper while Keith and I rushed Hannah to the ER in Charlotte after her snake bite.

Tonight we traded in Keith's car, a 1996 green Rodeo with well over 219,000 miles on it when he pulled up to the lot. 10 years old and just got a new alternator last week, but not something we are going to continue to press our luck with.

I was a little more than melancholy, but I don't know if that was from nostalgia or the thought of having a car payment back in my life.

Today was my last day of work for the summer, but, of course, I will be heading back in tomorrow to greet my new supervisor and two other new staff members (one arriving from FSU, Val's territory).

I'm just biding time until Keith gets home with the new car. I had to go down there and sign over the title since the Isuzu was in my name, even though it has always been looked at as "Keith's car".

The new car, and forgive me if I get this wrong, is a Nissan Frontier? It has a back seat, but it's not a massive truck. He's getting a black one with grey interior and power "stuff", I guess locks and windows? We had been talking about getting him a new car for a while now. Like I said, we just were starting to press our luck with his other car. There's nothing wrong with it, but a couple hundred here, a couple hundred there for repairs and it just was time to part ways.

Hannah's in the bath tub washing her crunchy hair. It's kind of nice it's short for all of the time she will be spending in the pool this summer. It dries out from the pool chemicals so easily and she is miserable when she has to try to comb through it.

My class last night sounds like it's going to be a challenge. There are a lot of writing assignments. For the most part, there are two assignments due each week. I think it will be a decent balance with the other class where I am just underwhelmed.
