Okay, I broke down and bought a toaster oven yesterday. It is the one Keith wanted - fits a standard sized frozen pizza in it. I have had the same toaster since I went away to college in '93 (yes, it's practically an artifact). 4 wide slots for bagels, push down the lever, toast pops up. Keith insisted that we needed a toaster oven and gave my toaster to the Salvation Army.
Now this toaster, sheesh... I have to read the directions before I can stick a Pop Tart in it. Sorry, not toaster... toaster OVEN. Just lovely. When we try to simplify our lives with these things and gadgets, I think we just complicate them.
I cannot return to work full time until I learn how to use all of our "stuff". We have a new TV with a DVR now... a fridge that can measure out how many ounces of water goes into the cup to make a favorite recipe, an oven that tells me when the door is open, a microwave that asks how many dinner plates I'm reheating and now a toaster oven the size of the Miata. Is it just me, or is there some sort of trend with men that says bigger is better? Uhhh... bigger is just bigger... bigger doesn't fit through the front door easily.
I found a potential new home for Mr. Orange Cat. I think Hannah, and even Keith, will be crushed. Someone responded to an online posting that he was looking for a new family because we already have 3 cats. If we weren't dealing with the issues of the animals all trying to settle in here, I'd probably want to keep him. Heck, I want to keep him now. I just know that this isn't what's best. Little Kitty Brown Toe STILL won't go outside. We just don't need another pet. I also have said that when one of these current pets "goes", we won't be replacing them. Kind of hard when every stray within a 5 mile radius seems to gravitate towards me.
Hannah was sick Wed. night so I took her to the doctor yesterday. The diagnosis was that she has a cold and I should give her some stuff to clear up her sinuses. Her ear was bothering her and she had "D", as she calls it. I spent the latter part of yesterday with a nasty migrane, but feel better today. Hannah is back at school today and seems fine.
