Our home is under contract! Our closing date is set for Oct. 7th. It is a young couple who are renting an apartment out near the mall. I was praying that it would be a young couple just starting out like we had been 9 years ago. It's not really for me to get involved in who is buying our house, especially since they offered full price right off the bat, but it is nice to feel that someone else is going to have the same opportunity we did. To find a real home that is still affordable compared to rent in the area and to have room to spread out after living in an apartment. The excitement of having a new house...
Keith has pretty well found the home he wants in Matthews, NC. It is on a very small lot, but it has a walking trail and wooded area for the community on 2 sides of it, plus, on the other side of the not-so-dense woods is the community clubhouse, playground and pool. It's still more than we hoped to spend, and I don't think our realtor is really sold on the house himself. Hannah and I will be flying up there tomorrow to see the top 3 or 4 picks that they were able to come up with.
I have to tell you, our realtor is THE BEST. He's just an awesome person as well as realtor. He's always honest and I feel that he has truly been looking out for our best interest all through the process. If you are looking in the Charlotte area, you have to call Richard Murrell.
The buyers have someone coming at 1 to do a home inspection. I've been working on a scrapbook page for my cousin's birthday. Of course, that means I've pulled out my carefully stashed supplies to do it.
The nice thing about the contract is that we don't have as many last minute appointments to worry about. Only TWO people have come to look at the house. The first ones made two visits, the second ones saw it once and made an offer the next day. I have to say, that makes me wonder about our pricing too. You know what though? We are coming out ahead. All of the money and hard work we've put into it over the years is definitely paying off.
Keith sounds so much more relieved to be out of the old place he was working. I hear that they are having a hard time adjusting to him not being their slave. Most of the other managers there were okay, and were even appreciative of Keith, but for the ones who weren't, I hope they see what they had a hand in running off.
That being said, it looks like everything is going to work out. When it goes that smoothly, how can it not work out? You have to know God has a hand in it when out of the blue Keith had a bunch of job offers all over the place, two potentials in areas we liked, put the house on the market for less than 2 weeks, found a house the day it went under contract... That's just God.
