We went to the Melting Pot tonight because we had a coupon that would expire at the end of the month and not much time to use it between now and then. Next weekend we will be leaving for a WEEK to enjoy Christmas at a resort on the bay of sunny St. Maarten in the Virgin Islands. It's a long story as how this came to pass, but I will spare the tedious details and just say I feel blessed to have the opportunity. I can scarely contain my giddiness. With all of us being sick, including poor Alex the cat again, it will be nice to have a true vacation someplace tropical. Alex and the rest of the pets will get a week in boarding, but at least I know they will be in good hands. Poor Alex has a bladder infection again and started on meds today.
In other news, I was offered an online reporting spot for a local web based publication that pays by the story. I would have total control of my timelines and content. I have to run it by the college to see if it would be a conflict of interest, but basically it will follow the same kind of advice/ Q&A for careers that my segment in the local newspaper has been running this month. My first love and first degree was in writing, so it's an aspiration that has been on the back burner and only satiated by my droning on and on via this blog to anyone who is kind enough to read. A wider audience and some promotion would be lovely. Getting paid, an added bonus no matter how miniscule.
So, there you have it. Two good bits of news (three if you count fondue for dinner) and just the one bit of bad - but Alex is on the mend.
We are going to have an INSANE weekend. Hannah has riding lessons and rehearsal for the horseback Christmas show at 9 am tomorrow. She has to be 2 counties away for a cheer competition by 11:30 and then following that, she has a basketball cheer Christmas party from 6 - 9 closer to our home. Sunday she will have the horseback show and will be in the first performance group at 1 pm so she can finish up being a Christmas "cowboy" and rush to the neigboring Christmas parade where she will cheer with the football cheerleaders from her school. Line up is at 1:45 and the parade starts at 3. We are already planning on what we will pack as snacks and energy drinks for the run around the state!
Keith and I shared another day off together today and did some odds and ends errands. It would have been nice to sleep in, but alas, we had to get Hannah off to school. We will have the week after next to relax though. Just need to hang on for a bit longer.
