TGIF

All is well in our household. Hannah made it through her first week of 7th grade unscathed. Today was a "special" day for the cheerleaders all to wear their hairbows, cheer t-shirts and warm up jackets (not that they needed those since it was in the high 80s). I have to find where I put the sheet of paper that had all of her teachers' websites listed so I can keep up with what homework and projects she has going on. I'm sure she will manage fine, but I've found that it helps keep a dialogue going between the two of us. Instead of asking how was your day, I can ask did you enjoy the map project you did in so and so's class today? "What did you do today?", usually results in a quick, "nothing really" or "same old same old", which may be true, but I do want to know what she has been up to.

I'm working on a surprise for my mom's big birthday at the end of September. I went to the mall today to discuss it with someone there. I have to keep it cryptic until after we "gift" her just to be sure... She doesn't read my blog, and I don't think anyone else in my family does, but you never know. The mysteries of cyber space.

First "normal" football game for Hannah's school. I bought Keith a green and navy shirt to wear and will surprise him tomorrow morning. He didn't have anything in dark green and wore a bright-ish blue last week and looked like he was rooting for the other team. The cheerleaders wear green and gold but the football players jerseys are white with navy. I can't keep up with this stuff. I'm excited about going to see some of the other high schools in our county. Being on the edge of the county nearest the big city, I tend to head in that direction for shopping, dining options, etc. The opposite direction has more suburbs similar to ours, but just a little further out there is a lot of agriculture and open spaces.

Hopefully it won't rain nor be too hot. Neither is fun to sit in. The word on the street was that the cheerleaders may do their half time routine for the first time tomorrow. We'll see how that goes.

The other adventure for tomorrow will be horseback riding lessons at their new time at 9 am. The adventure will be getting Hannah out of bed at 7:30 on a non-school day.

No other plans, but Keith says he wants to "DO SOMETHING" this weekend, unlike last weekend when we sat and watched the entire 3rd season of Dexter on dvd. It looks like Saturday is spoken for, so I'm going to try to hunt down some options for Sunday.
