Happy to report that Sharlene is on the mend and so is my mom. Prayer request for my aunt's friend whose mom had a massive stroke the other day. This friend has come to CKU/CKC with us the past two times we've gotten together.
Hannah had her first football "game" today. It was considered a jamboree, 4 teams playing two games on two halves of the field. It was hard to keep track of, but Hannah's team won the first game so played the winner of the other game that was happening and then won that one as well, so I guess that means they "won" overall? They did well. The girls did a nice job out on the track cheering. Hannah unfortunately misheard her backspot call a stunt and leaned back to cradle instead of being popped up to a full extension and fell on her backspot. It made the girl cry, but she made it through okay. Very stressful to watch, but everyone did what they were supposed to when a stunt went awry. Another girl was kicked either in the cheek or a face by her flyer, that was right as the game was over and we were leaving so I'm not sure how that turned out or what happened exactly. I was too busy watching Hannah and stressing out over whether or not she would hit the pavement.
Hannah's friend "B" spent the night last night and went with us to the football game today. "B" is a gymnast and was intrigued by the tumbling the girls did out there.
I took the two of them to see "Ponyo" yesterday. What an acid trip that movie was. The trailer really makes it look more normal than it was, ha ha. We went to a very "frou frou" theater in a frou frou part of town where they show frou frou indy movies and foreign films to see it. They had big leather seats and a bar. I felt like I should have dressed up more, but luckily we went to an early movie before people in cocktail dresses would have shown up. Yes, it was that frou frou. I was more impressed with the theater than the movie, but it was all a fun experience with the girls.
I go back to the doctor on Monday for bloodwork and a check up/in. I haven't been since before the cruise in April and while I have been doing "well" with exercising and watching what I eat, I haven't been doing AS well lately. Some of it has to do with the weird schedule, some of it summer laziness. I have no excuses, I could have done a better job with self control than I have. I look at it as the day before school starts and the day before I get back into some semblance of a routine for myself. I will be back at work on Tuesday and Thursday and next week I will start up my regular office hours again. That will help with working out better eating habits and an exercise schedule.
Keith and I have watched the first season of True Blood on DVD and while I could have done without some of the "adult situations", it was enjoyable. We are watching season 3 of Dexter right now.
So, that's all of my latest "goings ons" in a nutshell. I need to give my mom a call before it gets much later. We have had very little time on the phone because she was still in a lot of pain from her throat surgery. I talked to her on Monday just briefly and she still wasn't eating much. Just enough to sustain her.
8/23 I just added in some edited photos from yesterday. My laptop only has "paint" on it, so I was playing with the lines on the one picture. Keith's still sleeping and Hannah's sleeping over at "B's" house so I'm hanging out in bed for a bit.
