Feelin' Hot Hot Hot

It has been easily in the 90's since we arrived. There have been the typical Florida downpours that last 15 minutes or so followed by bright sun that makes the area feel like a sauna, but other than that, beautiful (albeit sweltering) weather for visiting family and friends in Lakeland.

One of the greatest joys of this trip was in discovering that our old neighbors, Mary & Anna, moved 4 blocks from my parents and just about 6 houses in from the main strip of common road traveled to get from point A to B. Hannah can walk there. It is a blessing as they have been together every day except yesterday and it has just been like old times. Not a lot of running around for the sake of getting them together. They just get together at their new house and swim and hang out like no time has passed since they saw each other last summer. Every day together concludes with a carpool to VBS (Vacation Bible School) where they eat dinner and participate in group activities. My mom and sister have been bringing Hannah home from there afterwards where I meet up after visiting with my own friends for dinner.

Yesterday, Hannah saw a friend from 1st and 2nd grade and spent the day with her. We went to see Harry Potter last night where we saw Mary, Anna and their dad so the girls were able to sit together. It was a late night, we got in just before 1 am.

I have been able to visit with a lot of my old friends here. It's hard to believe tomorrow is going to be our last day already. We are supposed to have "R" from NC's younger brother (11) coming to meet up with us here tomorrow so we can give him a lift back to Charlotte with us so he can spend the week with his friends. Because of incidents in the past, I'm waiting to see how all of that pans out before I comment further. My plan is to leave as early as I can possibly manage without falling asleep on the road, Sunday morning.

Haven't been actually out DOING a lot, just enjoying my time here. I know Hannah is having a grand time. My sister, Katie, is here as well. She's going to head home tomorrow morning. I got to see my goddaughter, Stephanie's, 7 month old little boy today. He is precious. I can't believe my old neighbor Lisa has an 11 month old and a 3 1/2 year old now in addition to Mary and Anna now either!

Well, on that note, I'm going to go throw some laundry in (yep, even on vacation) so I can pack up clean clothes and just need to put them away when I get home. No point in wasting my down time now when I can use that laundry time to unwind in NC.
