Time Flies

I have found that I am having a hard time sitting still since I wrapped up my 3 day work week 2 weeks ago. I appreciate the down time and I am spending more time now just keeping myself occupied. Unfortunately, that hasn't meant cooking from scratch or doing any excessive housework. I do have "projects" going on around the house though and that is a lot of fun.

Yesterday Hannah had her cheer uniform fitting after school. It was a really chaotic ordeal, she was picking up pieces to try on with no rhyme or reason, just grabbing random sizes. I wrote the check when it was all said and done and I will just say that I probably will need to take on some extra clients to make up for it. Wow. That's just for the "stuff" they need. Hannah is excited though because they will actually use pom poms, they are shiny metallic gold from what I could tell. She also said they get a really great hair bow that is big and fluffy (whatever that means) that she can't wait for. On top of that, we bought a t-shirt that says the school name and "cheerleading" on it that she's allowed to wear to school and ordered an extra one in another color, plus a pull over hoodie that will have her name embroidered on the sleeve. She wore the t-shirt we picked up yesterday, today to school and was thrilled. Since we didn't buy her any "spirit wear" as part of her school uniform this past year, I felt fine with that purchase. A friend gave her a hand me down hoodie when it got colder out and she practically lived in it for months.

Funny thing, I mentioned to Hannah that we need to find out when the football games are so we can work out when she can go to horseback riding and if she can continue on the competition cheer squad at the gym she has been at for the past 3 years. She looked at me like she was very confused. She had no idea what her cheerleading had to do with football. I said, "Hannah, you're a football cheerleader now, you cheer at the football games. Where did you think you were going to be a cheerleader?" "Uhhh... for competitions?" So, yeah, there are some competitions the school will take part in, but it's mainly for the football games. Poor thing. The football season ends in November, how early in November will depend on how well the team does and how far it continues to go. I told her worst case scenario, she could still cheer with the gym in the spring and cheer for the school in the fall.

Of course, she wants to do both as much and as often as possible. There are only so many hours in the day though, and school work has to come first. We have no clue what 7th grade homework will entail. She has been pretty fortunate this year with flexibility in her homework schedule. Things are usually do-able within a 20 minute span and in a lot of cases she is assigned something early in the week that is due the following week. I, personally, love that. She can get a little bit done each night, do it over the weekend, or do it when she has some downtime during the week. Either way, there has been a lot less drama typically.

Well, I'm going to finish my "project" in Hannah's room. I'm putting the trundle bedframe under her bed so she can use it when she has sleepovers. It is really too high for her new bed to slide it under like it did when she had the day bed, but I've kept the frame under the guest bed since we got the furniture in there and I had to build that bed on top of it. I hope this works out otherwise, I'm not sure what I will do!
