TGIF Countdown!

10 minutes remaining of Thursday. I'm awake and somehow Hannah is in bed with me, wedged between Keith and I. I haven't been sleeping well for the past month, so it's not a big deal. She had tumbling tonight, went for 2 hours, Keith and I got to have a "date" at Panera where I had a bagel (along with not sleeping, I'm not very hungry either, which could be a good thing...).

It has been a blessing to be able to sit down with Keith for an hour every couple of days without a lot of distraction. We grab something to eat and usually get to watch Hannah at the end of practice. Today she was doing a great job and has shown a lot of improvement in her round-off, getting ready to turn it into a back handspring combination someday soon.

I've been in a funk lately, can't seem to put my finger on it as to why. A lot of little things here and there have cropped up, but it's certainly nothing worth my worry, so I'm not even going to get wrapped up in it here.

I was SOOO proud of Hannah at her cheerleading event this past Sunday. She really showed a lot of confidence and team spirit in what she has been doing. She LOVES what she's doing and that makes me happy for her. She is excited about going to all of her cheer related lessons, didn't feel all that great yesterday, but was NOT going to miss stunt practice -- even though I told her we could go to Red Lobster instead. She was tempted, but her reply was, "I really want to get thrown up into the air." Endless shrimp just doesn't compare to that.

By the time we left the cheer off on Sunday, she was convinced that she would try out for her school squad in April, and would do both teams if she could (since her current gym isn't associated with a school, some girls do both their school team and the "fun" competition team there). I happened to be sitting next to one of the coaches for her school team and she said they could use a flyer. I think if she can get that back handspring by the time try outs roll around, she won't have any problems. It will just be another activity on her plate though, something will need to "give".

And MAN, while I'm talking about the cheer off, I just have to say, the photographer's pictures of her ribs... sheesh, she could put an eye out with those. 11 years old and 53 pounds, I don't think she has gained weight in years. I wonder if I have ribs anymore, it has been awhile since I've made their acquaintance, lol.

I'm getting tired of political ads and the slander of them. I have in mind who I will be voting for, but I'm not even thrilled with the candidates. It's the lesser of the evils, in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the ads being through and the junk mail to cease.

I was able to sit and watch some of Hannah's riding lesson on Tuesday. I got through almost 1/2 of it before I broke down into a sniffling, wheezing, allergic fit. She is doing so well. She has come a long way. Not riding little Pete the Pony anymore. She was riding a big white horse named Madison. The new farm animals are just adorable. There is a little pig that loves to run after the horses in the arena. He stopped by the crop bucket, grabbed a riding crop in his mouth and started shaking his head around, whipping it around like a dog with a toy. The llama (whose name is Dahli Llama) stood by the gate and stared at me the whole time I was watching Hannah.

I was able to sit and read for the half hour that was remaining of her lesson time and then for over and hour following as she helped out around the stables with the animals. It's a pain in the neck to run around and get her out there by 5, but I admit that it's not always a bad thing to have the quiet time to force myself to sit still, since I don't even get cell phone reception out there. I took a quick trip to the library out in the middle of nowhere after I dropped her off and I was able to pick up a new book on CD to listen to as I made my commute back and forth to work. I am learning to make better use of the time I spend out there.

We're going to be meeting up with Heather this Sunday at Dave & Buster's (fun!), and will probably find something else to do, whether it's a movie, or ??? while we are together. Saturday is wide open though. Don't know what the family will be doing, I'd love to take Keith to see the corn maze we went to a couple of years ago. Come to think of it, we have been to the pumpkin patch every year since we moved here as well. We will need to do that before Halloween.

Elissa and her family will be visiting in 2 weekends! That will be a welcome trip. I think the timing is just right. I think the two of us will get some girly girl time to ourselves at some point, even if it's just to get lunch or something. Looking forward to it. Please keep her and her family in your prayers and thoughts as her grandfather's funeral is tomorrow at 10. They have a 2 1/2 hour drive to get there, so they will be leaving early in the morning to travel.
