A remarkable day

Hannah got on the bus and headed out for her first day of middle school. Someone tell me how I now have a child old enough to be in middle school? Funny thing is, if my timing was spot on, I could have a child heading off to college/Uni this year, so I shouldn't be pish poshing. It was very sweet though. We walked down to her bus stop and eventually a set of twins she knew from elementary school (a year older) and their older brother came out. I wasn't looking at one moment when she was getting ready to board the bus, then all of a sudden I felt a tight hug around my waist. She came back for me. Ah, still my little girl.

To beat the blues, I decided I needed an insanely expensive cup of coffee and a slab of not so moist lemon cake from Starbucks. For the cost of a lunch out, I had my overly syruped, venti, Peppermint Mocha latte and stale pound cake. Now I think I am going to go into a glucose daze and schluff off housework for another hour while I read my book. In my defense, I've done two loads of laundry.

I took a few photos this morning, but am having a ridiculously difficult time working things with the computer and in the process may have erased the memory card. If that is the case, I am going to take more photos of the second day of school! I'm kind of ticked though and really hope that changing the phone situation will aid in my computer operations.

Hannah was very excited to wake up for school this morning when I announced that the elementary school kids would already have gotten on the bus and were well on their way when she was just opening her eyes. I sort of cheated and let her have another friend spend the night on Sat so she would fall asleep at a decent hour for me last night and then had her wedged in between Keith and I last night so I could monitor that she was in fact asleep rather than running amok through the house in the wee hours as she has all summer.

My work schedule is rather intimidating to me as I have weekends and evenings lined up as well as extra days during the week. Today is the only day I have to get my household projects done and then next week starts the rush and shuffle of Hannah's after school activities again. Tomorrow we will see how the 5 pm horseback riding time goes as I will be picking her up straight away from school and taking her on to the stable to save a bit of time. We'll see.

I'm off now, the book on my bed is calling to me.
For Tina who makes me cry with every post at what I have to look forward to.
