Keith had a miserable time of it Thurs night and was dealing with the start of a sore throat, so he called in sick (amazing!) on Friday and went with me to Hannah's classroom awards ceremony. Her teacher gave her an award for being a "super student", for "making responsible choices", and for being prepared. Can you believe it? This is the child that could do no right in the eyes of her teacher just 2 years ago. The child that has her self-esteem just crushed. She made 3 A's and a B on the report card, a "3" in writing at long last. She had 2's all year (developing proficiency) and now has finished with a 3, "demonstrates consistent proficiency". All S's on her behaviors. It was a good way to end the year.
Keith and I swapped over to Verizon last night and got new phones. Since it was only $10 more to add Hannah to our shared minutes plan and her phone was at no additional charge, we got her a phone as well. The pay as you go phone was fine, but this is a more permanent solution. What really cinched the deal for us was the "chaperone" feature for another $10 where we can basically track her phone by GPS and see where she is (or at least where the phone is) and will be alerted by text message if she goes outside of a given radius that we set by computer. That is what Keith is doing right now. Keith and I have had the bare basic phone for as long as we've had cell phones, so he is just giddy with excitement over this new toy. I'm a little confused as to how to use it and all of the features, but I haven't really sat and tried to figure it out yet. I am happy to have a camera phone now though. Hannah got right to work though, using her phone, using the video camera, and the recorder. With all of the junk out there, we had to have a talk about what is appropriate use of the cell phone and features and what is not. We went to see Superhero Movie tonight at the cheap theater. I am a fan of stupid, slapstick, physical comedy. It was the ultimate in stupid movies, and a bit bawdy, but I giggled.

The other big news of the weekend was that we bought Hannah a new bicycle. Her knees were hitting the handlebars on her old one. She has progressed to a 24" 15-speed. We were mainly looking at the size, color and price, not the fact that it's 15-speed. It was pretty inexpensive actually.
Well, going to move Hannah, the cat, and put the sheets on the bed after I post these two stock photos of the phones and the bike! Happy Sunday!

I hear ya with the phones - that's what we thought with Zach too. Hey he needs a new bike too! It's been hot here, but not 100...yikes!
