Winter Weather

It's a brisk 21 degrees right now. I am about to get up and get ready for work. My last day until 1/2/08. I don't even know if I need to go in that week at all. If I do, it's just to help out with drop in appointments, nothing too intense.

I had my second of 3 dentist appointments yesterday. Oh, I am not a fan.... but I have to say, it was bearable. I hate that I have always had crummy teeth.

Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner? Literally. Yesterday, I picked up envelopes so I could finally mail out my Christmas cards. I will have to get all of that taken care of tomorrow.

We told Hannah last night all about Santa. She just smiled and said, "I know". I figured as much for the last couple of years, but Keith just wanted to keep it up. I can understand why, but I just felt like we had to be honest with her at this stage because of her age and her friends. I let her pick out her iPod last night before we told her. Keith wanted to get her a Nano, but I didn't think she needed/wanted one that had that much memory. She picked out a pink shuffle. She liked that it was so small and cute. That is basically her big gift this year. I am going to buy her an iTunes gift card so she can download some new songs and that will be that. I will do that on Thursday.

Getting ready for a quick visit from Elissa and her family on Friday night. Not a lot of stuff to do, just a little more detail with the carpet and cat fuzz because of allergies. That being said, here is my boring carpet cleaning story:

I rented the "Rug Doctor" from WalMart last night. I rented the "hand tool" so I could clean my stairs this time. I got three different bottles of solution for pets, heavy traffic, and just the stuff that gets mixed into the water in the machine. When Hannah and I got home from running errands, I got the chemicals out of the bag and found that they had leaked all over and consequently leaked all over my kitchen. I cleaned that up and prepped the machine, spritzed all of the spray on the stairs and turned on the machine. The hand tool immediately started gushing water out, even though I wasn't pulling the trigger. I turned off the machine and saw that the hand tool was cracked in half near the nozzle. I called WalMart because at this point it was almost 9 pm and I still hadn't cleaned the carpet. They gave me a hard time on the phone and told me that I would need to bring it in so they could see it. I loaded up the hand tool and then I had to wait in a long line. Finally, I got up to the customer service counter and showed them that it was broken beyond repair and told them I wanted the machine for an extra 24 hours, free, because I wasn't going to stay up all night tonight doing the carpet and I had to work today. They weren't happy with me, but oh well. When I got the new hand tool home, I had to do the stairs because of the chemicals and the water that had gushed all over, I couldn't leave it like that. Just to finish the stairs took me until after 11 pm. I literally would have been all night if I hadn't gotten the machine for an extra day.

Well, I have 15 minutes of quiet time before I hop in the shower. It is going to be a vigorous day at work. 5 hours of appointments, 3 of which are assessments, meaning I will be doing a lot of talking.
