Marshall Update

Marshall was going for his appointment to see the melanoma specialist today. Please keep the family in your prayers. Marshall is a car salesman and works on complete commission. While he has health insurance, he faces financial difficulty because he has no income to pay for the basics such as housing and utilities if he is not working.

At 10 pm, I am now adding this update to my initial e-mail:
Good (or more encouraging) news today. The appointment with Dr. Richard White at the Blumenthal Center went well. Dr. White spent about an hour and a half with us reviewing everything. In summary: recovery rate is about 70%; 17% chance it has spread (this is based on clinical research, not tests on Marshall); Dr. White does not agree or disagree that Marshall's lungs are clear and wants to wait to confirm that; surgery will be in 2-3 weeks to remove this tumor and lymph node; reconstructive surgery will start at that same surgery. Marshall will be losing about a little more than a silver dollar size from his eyebrow area, including about 1/3 of his eyelid. While concerned with eye function, Dr. White is obviously more concerned about the cancer. I feel many prayers have been heard and we have found the right physician to work with. Thank you all for your love and support. I probably will not be posting anything else for a couple of weeks, so don't worry. I will let each of you know when surgery will be, and keep you posted with any changes. Love, Marshall and Melissa
