I will start off by saying that Keith had a message waiting on our answering machine Friday evening that they have the report from his CT scan, "and it's a good report, we aren't allowed to leave information on the phone". So, hopefully it's all good and we can rest easy, get through the actual follow up appointment where they go over everything with him, and get on for the next six months. That is my hope.
We didn't do much on Saturday. Hannah and "L" played. We had him and his mom over for dinner.
On Sunday, we had lunch at a new neighbors' house and it was really an enjoyable afternoon. The unfortunate event occurred when I was walking back to drop off a 2-way radio for Hannah so she could keep in touch with Keith while he mowed. I was going to run to Home Depot for some annuals to plant just outside my front porch. Hannah was enjoying playing with a new friend so we were going to let her stay for a bit longer.
Anyway, on my walk back through the walking trail in the woods, I ended up getting attacked, literally, by hundreds of yellow jackets. I was walking Lenny, he was stung several times and Hannah counted 9 stings on my back, arms, and leg. This morning I woke up stiff, sore, and itchy. Alex was walking with us and didn't run out after us, so I was worried that he was hurt, but Keith went back and found him and brought him home. It was a horrible experience.
On the up swing of things, Keith has been able to get off Nov 20 - 22 and then will be off the rest of the week for Thanksgiving. After much thought, we've decided to take a cruise! The choices were very limited as we hoped to leave from Charleston, SC. The only cruise available was on Norwegian Cruise Lines and will be a 7 day "Western Carribean" cruise stopping at Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Mexico, and Key West, FL. Three days will be spent "at sea". It's only a 3 1/2 hour drive to Charleston, so that won't be too bad.
I am a little nervous about what I've come across for reviews, so if anyone has ever taken a NCL cruise before and has some insight, that would be much appreciated. What has me more worried is the child care accommodations. It isn't as child friendly as Disney and I'm afraid Hannah will be disappointed. On the last Disney cruise, she begged us to leave her! For NCL, there seem to be very limited hours for kids activities and anything beyond those few hours costs $5 per hour for "child care". Not that that's unreasonable, I just wonder if with all of the little extras here and there we would be better off going on another Disney Cruise because we know it will be great. We've never been on another cruise line, so I'm afraid we're spoiled.
With the exception of that, I figure it's time away, meals included, some entertainment and relaxation while on the ship, and an opportunity to take on some fun excursions in the various ports. I feel really blessed that we will be able to get away on a family vacation and enjoy each other's company for a week. We had a lot of fun in Washington DC, now this. I mean, we haven't had many outings in the past, so this is just phenomonal. The times we get away though, really mean a lot. Keith's checking with a friend to see if their travel agent can get us a better deal, then we're booking, so I will let you know when it's all official.
Well, I'm off to bed. I have a class presentation to do in the morning and I haven't figured it all out yet... gotta try to get in early and pull my materials together. I screwed up by being late this AM because I felt so lousy.
