Happy Sunday

Hannah decided some weeks ago that she wanted to have a lemonade stand to raise money for the orphans so she could get money to buy them toys, canned food, and underwear. She was pretty set that she wanted to do that, and I have no idea what made her come up with that agenda. Anyway, the idea of lemonade was transformed to shaved ices. It just happens that the church we are going to's youth group will be going to Mexico for a week to work in an orphanage there. Hannah suddenly had her charitable organization all lined up and we let her set up shop by the road. It's pretty convenient that our house is right next to the only road that leads to the community pool. She made a whopping $9 and change for an hour of work.

It was a HOT day, that's why we taped the rain umbrella to her chair to try to give her some shade. Keith was also watering the lawn, so she would get a little mist here and there. She was so funny though. After I took this picture, she told Keith she needed a radio because she wanted to play the Christian station to attract more customers.

She got a new water toy that hooks up to the hose. All sorts of smaller hoses wiggle and squirt out when it's turned on. She and "L" played with it for a bit, then we had a nasty thunder storm roll through. The kids came in and watched "Yours, Mine and Ours" and then we had "L"'s mom over for dinner. It was a nice evening. I didn't even realize it was this late.

While I was out taking pictures of Hannah playing and selling icees, I had to take this picture of the berries that are growing all around my backyard. Are they blackberries? I'm hoping they are, because I want to eat them!

Today's sermon was about the book of Amos. By the time I was back from Scotland, I knew more about Amos, the shepherd, fig farmer, tender of sycamore trees who was not the son of a prophet... yadda yadda yadda. Who knew 9 small chapters in the Bible could have enough content to make it last an entire semester? The sermon was good, it's just the ache in my heart that is bad, as I had to think of "Professor Amos", his Pink Floyd t-shirts, Michael Bolton haircut, and rubber bracelets - and my friend Bob who laughed about all of it with me when we were in class trying to keep a straight face amongst the dour would-be preachers.

Hannah just cracks me up. She one fast thinker that girl!! She looks like she enjoys life. That is awesome.

I think they are blackberries. I always liked that they were tons of just little bubbles. I know I am easily entertained.

Hugs
Valerie

PS. I am not going to go to CKU. I am having a lot of trouble with my legs and sitting in chairs for long periods of time. I was so looking forward to seeing you and your mom. :(
