It was pretty gruesome. Hannah did NOT take it well. When she got home from "M"s house, we had him in a little box and we buried him under her birthday tree. She was very quiet, went up to her room, calmly closed the door behind her, then became pretty hysterical. It was so sad.
I gave her some time alone then went up and laid on her bed with her and talked to her. I asked her if she wanted to go to see a movie and she said that she thought that would be a good idea because if she stayed home she would just think about it and be sad. If she went out and spent time with her family and people who cared about her and did something else, it would help get her mind off of things and that would make her feel better and help her deal with things. Pretty insightful, I thought. I asked her where she learned that. She said they talked about it at church, and how she just needed to have more hope in her life. Couldn't we all?
So, we headed out for a quick bite to eat and then rushed over to make the movie in time. We went to a "second run" theatre and it was only $1.50. We saw "Cheaper by the Dozen 2", which about 15 minutes into it introduces the conflict of ---- a troublesome but cute rat that is being chased around the house by the family dog. DOH! Oh yeah, that will help get her mind off of things...
Luckily, she bounced back from it pretty well. She was really really mad at Lenny, but by the end of the night, she didn't want to find a new home for him. That dog though... sheesh.
Okay, I need to head home.
