We planted a tree for Hannah on Saturday. I forgot to talk about our weekend. Keith and I went to Home Depot to get some seed and fertilizer for our lawn and to get Hannah a "Bradford Pear" tree which blooms with beautiful white flowers right around her birthday. Well, once I got near it, I remembered they smelled horrible. Keith said they smelled like dog urine, and you could smell them whether you were standing next to it or not. Instead, we got a nice ornamental cherry tree which will have pink flowers. We planted it next to the garage where Hannah will be able to see it from her window.
I know she misses her yellow tree in Florida now. We will have to go take a picture of it (as long as the new owners are still okay with that, we told them when they came for the inspection that we'd be back for tree pictures around her birthday, lol) when we visit in April. It won't be in bloom, but we have taken a picture of her with it every year so we could see how the two have grown.
After yard work, we took one of her favorite school friends to see "The Shaggy Dog", which was a super cute movie. The girls had a lot of fun. Hannah had spent the morning playing with the little 5 y.o. down the street and some of her friends (5 and 7) who were visiting, then she got to have a fun time with a school friend, so it was a good day for her.
The other good news is that we've found a church we can all agree on. I got teary eyed because they closed the service with Todd Agnew's "Grace Like Rain", which is one of Keith's favorite songs. I knew we found the church when that happened.
After church, more yard work. I planted some of the bulbs I dug up from my grandmother's garden in NY. I am praying that they will grow. I feel like I would have a little "piece" of her in my garden here. She always had such beautiful flowers. My grandfather had the BEST vegetable garden every summer. He loved fresh veggies and could live on salad.
I'm running into issues here because I know some things are dormant, but then I look around and wonder if they are just DEAD and need to be dug up. We put down fresh mulch in some of the flower beds and that helped a lot with the "curb appeal". Now if we can get our grass to green up...
