Accumulations

You wouldn't believe the "stuff" I have again to pass on for donations. Tonight I am meeting a teacher to give her some of Hannah's toys that she no longer plays with for a family that is in hiding from an abusive father and uncle. There are 6 children, one of them is in her class. I'm going to try to get some clothing together too. Monday, the veteran's group will be by and they will get the rest.

With that out of the way, I will be able to unpack the last few boxes and see what else I have been holding on to that we don't need.

Yesterday, I started the "leg work" via phone to get Keith set up with an oncologist here. Our realtor had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma 10 years ago and still goes to see his oncologist annually. He had good things to say about him and so that's really all I had to go on.

Dr. Trindade is getting ready to go on vacation, so the nurses there (in Lakeland) said they would talk to him when he gets back in two weeks and see what he recommends. At that rate, I am just going to go through the motions to get Keith in with Dr. Boyd here. The receptionist said they won't be able to see new patients until just after New Year's, so I may as well start the process. At worst, Dr. Trindade has a recommendation and we cancel.

So, please pray for wisdom and discernment both on our part and Dr. Boyd's part if he is to be Keith's new oncologist/hematologist. The fact that our realtor had NHL, that it came up in conversation... just the way everything happened, I believe it was God's way of smoothing our path.

I have a "general" cold. Cough, stuffy nose, etc. It's not unbearable, but earlier in the week, I was battling a sinus headache.

The themometer has dipped below freezing most mornings and last night the forecast included the ever-so-slight possibility of snow sometime between 12 and 6 this afternoon. Lenny HATES the cold. I take him out and he just vibrates and shivers. Yesterday, I had the boards for my shelves in the garage, priming them, and he just made whiney noises and shook the entire time. I made sure he had his sweater on this morning before I took him out. He's usually VERY fast to get out of it, but he has left it on today.

I attempted to put up Christmas lights on the house yesterday. Keith wanted candy cane striped rope lights. I wound them in and out on the railing to the porch and wanted to go up the posts with them, but I don't know how I can make them stay. I have been forbidden to use tape. I can't make holes (ie: use a nail or a tack). I left them hanging there and figure Keith can figure it out sooner or later since he is being so difficult.

I don't think our 6' ladder is going to be tall enough to hang the icicle lights even from the porch overhang. We have a sheer, tall house. In Florida, it was easy. Here, I think I'd need a bucket truck to reach anything.

I haven't even started on making Christmas cards for this year. I didn't make them last year because things were so crazy the entire year with Keith's treatments. I thought I'd get to do something simple this year, but I just can't seem to get things put together. I get an idea and then I can't find the right supplies to do it. I have so much stuff that I hate to buy anything just because I can't find it right now. I need to get going though. I have cards to mail overseas. It takes weeks.

Well, I'm off to put together the box of giveaway stuff for this evening. Have a nice day!

Keeping Christmas lights up...I wonder if you could use those little hooks that have the tab that you pull so if comes off clean. I know they are typically for inside use, but it may work. You know the comerical where the wall doesn't want to be hammered inorder to put up decorations.

I am praying for Keith and the doctor issues. I too think it was God's plan for you to meet Richard and therefore, go to Dr. Boyd. I am glad you are getting that started.

I would suggest the same thing as Sharlene as far as hooks for the outside lights. I think they make ones that are to keep cords neat. Those would probably be the best for the rope lights. I have some of the 3M hooks outside and they have been fine.
